Musharafa Qasemwa, the first theater and film actor in Tajikistan, passed away at the age of 101 in Dushanbe.
She was buried today near the grave of Momtaz Usmanov (the son of Mrs. Qasemova). Farrokh Qassim, another son of Mrs Qasemwa was the founder of the “Aharon Theater”.
Qasemwa was born on December 19, 1918 in Samarkand.
She was recruited as an actor in Abulqasem Lahouti Theater in Dushanbe in 1937 and remained in the theater until her retirement in 1985.
She was know as the “mother” of Tajik Theater.
In the early 1920s, the father of Farhang Qasemwa, who was a businessman, came from Samarkand to Dushanbe. Then his wife and children joined him.
In 1937, her father and her two uncles were executed on charges of “hostility to the people” by the communists.
After the execution of her father, her mother was arrested and was imprisoned for about one and a half years. Her brothers and sisters were sent to orphans in Kazakhstan. She stayed alone since getting married.
